The tobacco industry has used many deceitful methods to try to get YOUth hooked on their products, like trying to link tobacco with sport (like baseball and chew).

While playing sports, tobacco users are:

  • More easily exhausted;
  • Have reduced endurance;
  • Are slower to react;
  • Have poorer visual judgment; and
  • Smoker’s suffer shortness of breath.

Regardless of its form, the end result is the same tobacco hurts your game. Tobacco industry products shouldn’t be a part of sports and recreation. By creating a tobacco-free sport and recreation policy, your school or sport or recreation organization will be a more positive and healthy place, free from harmful products.

You can influence your peers. Encourage your friends and classmates to stay tobacco-free by creating a tobacco-free policy.

There is no safe level of exposure to second-hand smoke, even outdoors.

Less tobacco industry products use leads to less little and fewer toxins released into the water we use every day and the air we breathe.

Perform at the top of your game. Tobacco industry product use goes against the benefits of being active.

Out of sight, out mind. People can resist the temptation of using tobacco products when they can’t see them lying around.
